The Tiger King, also known as the Maharaja of Pratibandapuram, got his name because he set out to kill 100 tigers, making him popular with his people. An astrologer had predicted he would die by a tiger's hand, so he made it his life's mission. Ironically, even though he managed to kill ninety-nine tigers, he died from a wooden toy tiger, just as the astrologer had said.
