The Tiger King Class 12 Question Answer AHSEC

The Tiger King, also known as the Maharaja of Pratibandapuram, got his name because he set out to kill 100 tigers, making him popular with his people. An astrologer had predicted he would die by a tiger's hand, so he made it his life's mission. Ironically, even though he managed to kill ninety-nine tigers, he died from a wooden toy tiger, just as the astrologer had said. The Tiger King, or Sir Jilani Jung Jung Bahadur, was a complex leader who ruled firmly and even paid a high price to British officials to maintain his rule.

The Maharaja continued his tiger hunting with rare singlemindedness within a period of ten years, he killed seventy tigers. It was his master strategy to marry a girl from a state which had a large tiger population. So he was able to kill ninety-nine tigers in all.

The tiger king could pay any price to maintain his kingdom. He had to give a bride worth three lakh rupees to a high-ranking British official in order to retain his kingdom.

The tiger king knew how to take work from his minions. he could be hot-headed. He doubled the tax on the people.

It is ironic that the tiger king met with his death by a wooden tiger and the hundredth tiger took revenge upon him.

7. What did the Maharaja decide to do when he remembered the astrologer's prediction?

Ans: The maharaja began to kill tigers at the age of twenty when he remembered the astrologer's predictions. He killed seventy tigers in his own kingdom and for the remaining, he decided to marry. Accordingly, he killed five or six tigers in his father-in-law's kingdom whenever he visited. Thus his tally reached up to ninety-nine which was one short of a hundred.

Ans: The little infant did something miraculous when the astrologers predicted that his death would come from a tiger. in his unclear murmuring the ten-day-old infant threatened the tiger. When the murmuring was heard, the infant murmured "Let the tiger beware" which shocked everyone present there.
