1. Why did Rajkumar Shukla come to lucknow in 1916 ?

Ans : Rajkumar Shukla visited Lucknow in 1916 with a view to meet Gandhi. He wanted Gandhi to come to his district, Champaran and do something to help the poor peasants from the injustice of British. In Champaran the British landlords exploited the peasants in the name of indigo.

Ans : Rajkumar Shukla, the poor and illiterate peasant from Champaran showed his immense determination and dedication to bring Gandhi to Champaran. After meeting Gandhi in Lucknow he never left Gandhi's side and followed him to everywhere. during the days he remained with Gandhi like his shadow and finally impressed Gandhi to visit Champaran. So, the poor peasant is described as being resolute.

Ans : The servants of Rajendra Prasad thought Gandhi to be an another peasant for the following reasons-

Firstly, Gandhi was accompanied by Rajkumar Shukla whom the servants recognised as a poor peasant from Champaran. Shukla frequently visited Rajendra Prasad relating the problems of sharecroppers.

Secondly, as we all know that Gandhi dressed very poorly like the thousands of poor peasants of the land. So, the servants of Rajendra Prasad misjudged Gandhi to be another peasant like Shukla.
